Heating system uses human heat in new Detroit area school
A suburban Detroit high school in Grosse Ile uses a self contained heating system that stores heat generated by students and lights. Architect Keith Weiland of Ann Arbor says hot air is collected and stored in tanks and later circulated by a compressor, reducing heating costs to about two thirds of normal.
