State Guard to Camp at Ft Riley Next Sunday Morning
Lawrence Kansas State Guard members checked out training equipment at Ft Riley during a drill. The unit will entrain for an eight day camp starting Sunday morning. Four recruits remain to fill the quota and signs up must be done by Thursday after physicals. Recruits meet at the armory at 8 o clock and march to the station for the troop train. The camping period at Fort Riley runs during August.

Will Aid Patients Through Douglas County Paralysis Plan
Douglas County case committee of the National Foundation For Infantile Paralysis approved a plan to advance medical aid for all county residents stricken with infantile paralysis. The local chapter received 1645.92 from county drives, with half allocated to research, treatment, and prevention and the other half to local aid. Kansas City market set a record with three carloads of choice grain fed steers at $96.85 per hundred pounds. The prior high was $26.50 on July 2, with a WWI peak of $25.25 in December 1918. An 8 year old, Edward Christenson, was bruised when a Shetland pony reared against a railing and threw him to the sidewalk while crossing a Santa Fe overpass on Highway 1. Charles Hixon, 5, escaped injury by leaping to the ground. Motorists took the boys to the Christenson home and Edward was treated at Lawrence Memorial hospital with a bruised left arm and shoulder.
