NIH plans platform studies for long COVID treatments
Two additional trials will open in coming months testing sleep disorder therapies and autonomic nervous system problems including POTS, with a third platform study on exercise intolerance and fatigue. Enrolling 300 to 900 adults, these flexible trials can add therapies on a rolling basis, drop failing treatments, and extend promising ones rather than restart. Researchers say the approach may accelerate finding effective targets for long COVID.

Hoffman's knee replacements restore mobility with dedicated therapy
Hoffman's two knee replacements at LMH Health West Campus, led by Dr. Goodyear and PT Tyrel Reed, restored walking distance and speed. He progressed from walker use to a mile within three weeks after the first surgery and returned home the same day after the second. Reed emphasizes consistency with home exercises and progressive therapy to regain range of motion and strength. The LMH Health OrthoKansas program, accredited by The Joint Commission, supports high quality care and aims to return patients to activities like biking and fast walking while avoiding high impact that could wear implants early.
