New Hampshire Lofts incentive review set for Wednesday
Public Incentives Review Committee will decide if developer Tony Krsnich earns a 15 year 95 percent property tax rebate under the Neighborhood Revitalization Act and a sales tax exemption for construction materials to advance the New Hampshire Lofts project in downtown Lawrence. The plan calls for 50 affordable housing units for residents 55 and older atop about 15 000 square feet of ground floor commercial space. The four story building sits on the Allen Press properties site and resembles the Penn Street Lofts project. A tenant for the first floor commercial space hasn’t been secured yet with Krsnich aiming for a mix of office and restaurant uses pending occupancy commitments.

Wakarusa Drive extension could free CIP funds this year
Douglas County commissioners move toward allocating money from the five year Capital Improvement Plan to advance a south of Wakarusa Drive extension. Bid timing shifts to late 2024 or early 2025 with KDOT approvals needed, making construction unlikely before 2025 or 2026. The plan may force delaying County Route 1061 repairs near Eudora until 2028 to accommodate a new nearby battery plant.
