Senate approves student tax credit to aid college costs

The Senate backs a $250 yearly tax credit for students paying tuition, books, and fees with a $100 start next July and $50 annual increases to 250 by 1980. The credit reduces taxes owed if the student files, otherwise it goes to the paying parent or spouse.
