Beatle John Lennon Christianity remark defended by interviewer
Maureen Cleave says Lennon's remark on Christianity and the Beatles was misinterpreted and not aimed at belittling Christ. She notes Lennon discussed the declining power of Christianity and that the interview, first published March 4, touched on religion briefly. The Beatles plan a 14 city U S tour starting in Chicago on Aug 12 and manager Brian Epstein travels to assess the situation.
