Regents urge new goals to expand higher education delivery

Kansas Regents begin a three day retreat at Kansas State University Olathe campus to set goals for the upcoming year. They face concerns over rising education costs and a public that questions degree value with many graduates not earning wage gains over high school diploma holders. Executives say employers want job specific certifications and micro credentials, prompting calls to shift funding incentives toward nontraditional offerings and online learning while preserving the traditional KU Lawrence campus role. Enrollment declines at KU K State and others underscore urgency to broaden access and enhance relevance across the system.
