Versailles April 29 The German peace congress delegation arrives to sign the treaty in the Hall of Mirrors amid appeals for calm from Versailles authorities. A public viewing is urged and buildings will be decorated as the historic moment approaches. Count Von Brockdorff-Rantzau is due tomorrow with the rest of the delegation. Washington April 29 The international labor clauses for the peace treaty include a 8 hour day, weekly rest, abolition of child labor, equal pay for women, and workers’ right to organize.
Paris reports Munich is surrounded after troops occupy Landehut about thirty five miles northeast. German dispatches say the city is approached on all sides while trouble grows in Nuremberg where Spartacan leader Albert Schmidt was killed and a state of siege declared. A Spartacan faction leader was captured.
A coal gas explosion at the Majestic mine 22 miles north of Birmingham, Alabama, injures four men and leaves about 40 still believed trapped. The government mine rescue car is en route to the scene as officials confirm the incident.
New York received 91 officers and 2786 men of the old national guard of Pennsylvania aboard the steamship Kroonland from St Nazaire diverted to New York en route to Newport News. The vessel carried 3783 troops including 11 officers and 283 men of the 158th Infantry Machine Gun Company 85th Division. Former national guard from Missouri and Kansas are reassigned to Camp Sherman Taylor Travis Dodge and Funston.

He travels with the Eighth Army Corps headquarters unit as a topographical officer and visited the Vatican in Rome during April. Holmes is a Lawrence, Kansas native and KU 1915 graduate.
In Budapest on April 20 an angry scene erupted as Frau Weltner and his mother in law protested a proposed law to socialize Hungarian women. They threatened to leave their husbands if the measure passed, prompting Weltner to defend the law. A later telephone exchange with Bela Kun led to the bill’s draft being discarded before printing.
City officials weigh rain risks as they press War Department for permission for the 110th Engineers band and Company A to halt in Lawrence on the way to Camp Funston. Mayor Kreeck says units of the 137th regiment may arrive Saturday while weather could affect arrangements for receptions and comfort of visiting women.
Topeka police identify Ray Slack alias Miller as one of the trio who held up a Frisco train near Olathe in 1958. More than sixty Lawrence high school boys left classes over tank day absences, marching to City Hall. Mayor George L Kreck and a volunteer committee negotiated. students will not be marked absent today but must makeup missed work. Olney and the superintendent referred obstacles to the mayor before a settlement.
Martial law was put into effect in Linton Indiana as state troops patrol streets aided by police. A demonstration in support of about ten striking operators led to a crowd of several hundred smashing the telephone building windows and causing all but one operator to flee to the roof with no violence reported.
Dr James Naismith former head of physical education at the university and recent YMCA veteran will address the Hi Y Club at the YMCA about his experiences and views on physical training and service.
On April 2 the Chicago market saw heavy selling as traders rushed to unload amid a declining market. Breaks of about 1 1/2 cents in corn and 1.30 per barrel in pork were recorded, with May corn slipping to 1.57 and July to 1.574 as federal director hinted at possible easing of import restrictions if price pressure continued.
