Graves signs hog farming bill with county vote requirement
Gov Bill Graves signed a sweeping hog farming bill into Kansas law on Monday. The measure demands a county vote before corporate hog farms can locate, with environmental, odor and waste controls and plans by state agencies. Lawmakers praised the compromise while critics warned it falls short of strong protections.
