GM reports record profits in first quarter

General Motors posts a first quarter record with profits of 903 million dollars and sales of 13.6 billion. Earnings 3.14 dollars per share, ahead of 1973 and near an all time quarterly high, driven by strong big car sales in the United States. Lawrence seniors sweep state VICA results in Kansas City

Two Lawrence High School seniors won state ratings at the VICA contest in Kansas City Kansas. Greg Schlappi earned third in general safety while Larry Saathoff placed third in job interviewing among 650 contestants. Both students train in the school's cooperative industrial program.
