Corps May Delay Clinton Road Closure for Dam Work
Clinton residents expect few transport problems as six gravel roads near the dam site stay open longer. Army Corps engineer Ken Rowen says the main Clinton blacktop from Lone Star corner toward U S 59 may be kept open depending on construction traffic and safety. Closures earlier this month affect area roads used for fill material and dam work, with limited access still allowed for a farmer. Residents describe alternate routes to Lawrence via township roads and the Stull Road, noting the all weather routes will be longer but passable.

Agnew says conscience would force resignation
Vice President Spiro T. Agnew told Harvard Republican Club members he would resign if Watergate or any matter forced him to serve against his conscience. He said decisions would depend on facts of any prior knowledge by Nixon and stressed he would not stay in office to use the presidency as a pulpit if conscience demanded resignation.
