Sharptailed Grouse Return Planned Across Kansas
Kansas wildlife restoration details how harp tailed grouse were reintroduced since 1982, using a lek sound system and decoys to encourage breeding. By 1985 releases expanded, totaling 1,100 birds across Ellis Osborne Rawlins and Rooks counties with a final ninth site in Rooks. Cautious optimism remains about long term habitat, competition with prairie chickens, and hybridization risks.

Lake of the Woods a premier walleye fishing haven
Lake of the Woods in Minnesota is famed for prolific walleye and other sportfishing. Biologists credit thriving populations to reduced commercial fishing, better water quality, warm springs for perch, and the lake's vast size. Ontario regulations limit keepers for visitors at Minnesota resorts.
