He was born Sept 23 1905 in Lawrence and worked as an electrical construction worker on the Co Op expansion. Endacott and four brothers and one sister. Mike Hadl 64 longtime Douglas County resident died Friday night at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Home in Baldwin. Funeral Monday 3:30 p.m. at Rumsey Funeral Home, Rev Benton Roy Hanan in charge. Burial Baldwin Cemetery. Survivors include three daughters Rosa Bell Cain Viola Palmer Emma Mullis, four brothers Gus Hadl Vitus Hadl, four sisters Eleanor Had Had Nemic Ginge Frank Barbara Madl and five grandchildren.

Bomb attempt near Castro rally as NY police seize bomber
In Central Park a young man carrying a homemade bomb was seized 200 feet from Fidel Castro as he tried to climb a barrier during Castro's address to about 35,000. He claimed the device was for kicks, not to harm anyone, while police estimated an effective blast radius of 300 feet.

Two Local Persons Hurt In Wreck West Of Here

Gasoline Drum Taken From Snow Hall Site Ignite At Potter Lake
Campus police at Kansas University report a 50 gallon drum partially filled with gasoline was stolen from the Snow Hall addition project late Thursday night. The drum was rolled to Potter Lake poured on the water and ignited. No damage was reported. Glenn Hendrickson of Harmon Construction Co. identified the missing drum.
