Space Center Houston AP reports America's 47 spacemen sent condolences to the Komarov family after the Soviet cosmonaut died in a crash. Cynthia Brown a KU senior majoring in invoice won the Naftzger Vocal Award at a Young Artists Audition in Wichita part of the 27th annual event. The competition drew 69 college musicians from Kansas and Oklahoma in vocal piano and instrumental categories with 11 finalists performing Sunday at the WSU Fine Arts Center. Brown studies with Irene Peabody and will present a senior recital at 8 p.m. Tuesday May 9 in Swarthout Hall.

Preliminary Hearing Set in Assault Case at KU
A preliminary hearing is set for May 1 at 10:30 a.m. in County Court for Misheck C Manema, a 25-year-old KU student charged with felonious assault of a 23-year-old KU coed at Lone Star Lake. Manema, from Salisbury Rhodesia, is free on 1500 bond. The incident occurred about 7 a.m. at the lake southwest of Lawrence. the victim, a KU junior from Olathe, was not molested.
