Online Child Privacy Rules Take Effect Friday
In Washington DC federal law requires Web sites to obtain a parent’s permission before collecting a child’s personal information. Government agents will sweep thousands of sites to enforce the rule. Loren Thompson of the FTC says enforcement is a high priority and sites must show how parents can grant consent. Companies may obtain approval by mail fax toll free phone or email.

Florida can prosecute crimes aboard ships 100 miles offshore when half the passengers board and disembark in Florida and no other government prosecutes.
