Crash Victim's Progress Good After One Vehicle Crash
Mrs. Clifford Reynolds of Ottawa is in fairly good condition at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a Saturday morning one vehicle crash 1.6 miles south of Baldwin Junction. She had crushed vertebrae in her back while three children Sally Scott and Barry ages 1 5 and 7 months sustained minor injuries and were treated and released. The 1968 Ford station wagon left the highway on a curve and plunged down an embankment the car demolished according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Docking Vetoes Four More Bills In Kansas
Gov. Robert Docking announced vetoes on four more measures bringing total to ten. A rejected bill would have created a spot roadside motor vehicle inspection system to stop and order repairs within ten days, deemed non compliant with federal law. Other vetoed bills would allow school districts to destroy certain records after audits, grant the Kansas Corporation Commission power over mobile radio service operators as a public utility.

Stolen TV and Gun Reported in Lawrence
Lawrence police logged four thefts on Monday and today including a portable television and a revolver. A 76 dollar revolver was shoplifted from Wilson Supply on Mass Street Saturday. A purse and car key were taken from a high school fashion show area, with the purse later found and five dollars missing. Vandalism ranged from a pool tile damage on Ky Dean St to eggs on a car, plus two no parking signs stolen or damaged on 17th Street.

In a 6-2 ruling, the Supreme Court held police need a judge's permission before fingerprinting suspects. The decision challenged a Mississippi case where a 14 year old's fingerprints used at trial were excluded. Justice Black dissented, urging a narrower Fourth Amendment.
