Four Crewmen Die In Crash Of A C119 In Japan

A U S Air Force C119 Flying Boxcar crashed on northern Kyushu while en route from Ashiya Air Base killing four crewmen aboard. A search helicopter crashed in the rain, injuring three Americans. Ground parties found the wreckage in the mountains about 245 miles south of Yawata. Names of all seven airmen were withheld.

Eden's Condition Improves After Operation

Doctors report Sir Anthony Eden is improving after his operation for a bile duct problem. The daily bulletin says Eden is active about his room at New England Hospital and his general condition remains good. Lady Clarissa Eden attended services yesterday at St Pauls Cathedral and stayed at the hospital.

City Youth Seriously Injured By Train In Lawrence

A 17 year old Lawrence youth in fairly good condition at Memorial Hospital after a Saturday train collision. He suffered a left arm amputation skull fracture left knee fracture and multiple lacerations. The driver of the truck escaped with minor injuries. Police have yet to determine exact cause.

Family Disturbance Ends In Death for 5 Persons

CHURCH POINT Louisiana a family disturbance spiraled into a fatal shooting spree. Raphael Daigle a 30 year old carpenter his estranged wife Rena Mrs Daigle their 14 year old daughter Netta and two police officers Chief Wilbur Laundry and Assistant Chief Burley Cormier were killed. Daigle then killed himself. The shooting followed a visit by Daigle from the East during an attempt at reconciliation.

One month into spring and with drought breaking, Eastern Kansas continues to post above normal rainfall totals. If the region sustains normal moisture over six months, it could become one of the wettest areas nationwide, benefiting from three-fourths of yearly rainfall in the growing season.
