Government may buy preprohibition whiskey stock
Washington reports 20 million gallons of pre prohibition whiskey are stored under government supervision. Most owners were caught with stock when prohibition began and cannot dispose of it except as directed by the government. Prohibition officials estimate medicinal use will exhaust the stock by about 1929, with manufacturing resuming around 1925 to supply four year old spirits as medicine.
