Leavenworth April 21 Ka N Terrill ex member of the first Oklahoma territorial legislature and noted prisoner in the Kansas state prison argued his habeas corpus petition in district court. Dressed in a cheap prison suit he defended himself against technical objections, contending the journal entries of territorial court proceedings were copies and challenged jurisdiction limits. The court ruled the chamber could not order release and denied back pay. Spectators backed Terrill but the judge upheld the commitment and heard continued arguments on the case.
