In Washington DC the first ballot for the national officers of the Daughters of the American Revolution failed to produce a result. Apreit announced that 90 votes were reached last night and another ballot was taken today amid much excitement.
Nashville Tenn April 20 The main building of Vanderbilt university was destroyed by fire today. The loss will be almost total with only a few fixtures saved. The blaze originated from a defective flue.
On April 17 a determined assault by Chinese bandits targeted the Harbin Vladivostok railroad near Imyatpo station, 100 miles east of Harbin. After a several hour fight the attackers were driven off, with bandits remaining in rear areas but dispersing when pursued. Japanese forces may aim to interpose between Harbin and Vladivostok as rumors of eastward movements spread.
