Reports from Genoa show Allied delegates reacting to Germany and Russia signing the Rapallo treaty. British Prime Minister Lloyd George warns the pact could divide Europe, undermining the conference aims and the Versailles settlement.
A Dominion Exposition committee cleared a Lawrence area carnival as wholesome and suitable for a Legion project. The event, sponsored by the American Legion and the Sir Ferrell Dorsey Post, will bring nine new shows to town with proceeds aiding a permanent Legion home fund. The Lawrence area groups plan to cooperate for the carnival and park use ahead of the Dominion Exposition shows.
Springfield April 18 relief to Kansas coal field strikers from Illinois workers ends for now after a month of aid totaling 320600 dollars in provisions. Relief stopped last week due to the nationwide strike.
Carl Smalley of McPherson and Kansas City brings about 250 prints and etchings by Sandzeri Harrison Braun Rich Dunton and others to an art exhibit at the East Admin Building art studios in Lawrence. The show runs Wednesday Thursday and Friday with 8:30 a m to 7 p m hours and admission charged. Most items are for sale. Smalley will attend during the three days.
At last night’s city commission meeting a lateral sewer was ordered installed in the Haskell Place addition after two petitions were filed earlier. The sewer will run along the Rhode Island and New Hampshire street lots in blocks five six and seven and connect to the existing system. a flush tank will be added as part of the project. Also noted: a robbery in Kansas City involving $7000 seized from Max Goldberger. Trains pass London’s Cross station every forty seconds.
Douglas county farmers were urged by G R Shultz of Kaw Valley Creamery to keep dairy products local to meet Lawrence demand. He warned that transporting butter fat out of the county raises costs for residents and reduces local road taxes, calling for expanded local processing and sales. Winsler of Kaw Valley Creamery stressed valuing dairy products and growing ice cream demand, noting alfalfa feed shipped out limits profits and highlighting a widening market for dairy farming locally.
City attorney revealed a drafted ordinance requiring parking lights on all vehicles and banning parking at fire plugs. No copy existed when discussed but a new version will be made by Monday night, making wrist slaps in police court a possibility no longer.
Topeka reports a heavy frost last night damaging fruit crops across eastern Kansas. Peaches pears plums and berries harmed while apples escaped. Temperatures fell to 23 at Topeka with widespread frosts ranging from 23 to 38 degrees in Kansas City Wichita Dodge City and St Joseph. Some areas like Fort Scott saw severe frost with little fruit damage theorized. Parsons notes slight frost with no orchard impact yet. Lawrence nurserymen expect uncertain full extent and potential record small fruit year.
Forest C. Dunn of Slater, Missouri, and Elizabeth Hingson of Marshall, Missouri, were married by Judge L. J. Menger. The couple obtained the license here yesterday.

The west side of New Hampshire between Sixteenth and Seventeenth Streets was approved for sidewalk construction at the city commission meeting last night. Petitioned by E. E.
