Eight deaths occurred in Minnesota as Perley residents fled rising waters while Moorhead reported lasting basement seepage and a closed cafe. The Souris River neared crest in Minot as 13 Minnesota counties were declared disaster areas and the Mississippi River flooded St Paul rail lines and reached 10 5 feet above flood stage.

Hearing Waived In Gaughan Case
Thomas James Gaughan 20 waived a preliminary hearing in Douglas County Court and was bound over to District Court on a felony charge of malicious destruction of private property valued over 50 dollars. Co defendant Lawrence Green 21 also bound over on the same charge after a March 2 window shooting at Jayhawk Cafe. Green remains free on 1500 dollar bond, Gaughan also 1500 dollar bond.

Cambodia to resume relations with United States
Cambodia's chief of state Prince Norodom Sihanouk announced the resumption of diplomatic ties with the United States after U.S. recognition of Cambodia's frontiers. Engineering Expo Opens Friday at KU Learned Hall
The 49th annual Kansas University Engineering Expo opens at noon Friday under a 25-foot archway replica of a space frame truss at Learned Hall West 15th Street. Two year old Eudora girl darted into the path of a car near Maple Street and K-10. The child was admitted to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in good condition with a head bump and other injuries. The westbound car was driven by Constance M Tobin a 25 year old KU student from Prairie Village.
