Police found eight quarts and eighteen pints of well bottled whisky in Nannie Roberts on New Jersey Street. She was fined $100 and costs and sentenced to thirty days in the city jail. George Williams, arrested as he departed Kansas City, was acquitted for lack of evidence. Roy Metsker, drunken on Massachusetts Street, said the liquor came from a Mexican. he was fined $25 and costs and sentenced to 30 days in jail. He may return to work after promising to serve the sentence.
Five hundred word essays on Patriotism in Times of Peace are sought from Kansas grade pupils. Too Mrs. W A Macoubrie offers a state prize. winner to be honored at the Wichita encampment in May. Lawrence Circle 74 will award a baby bond to Lawrence pupil with best essay. Essays must not exceed 500 words and must be sent to Miss Addie Buckminster, president Lawrence Circle No 75, by May 1.
Five honor students at Lawrence High School include three boys and two girls. Notable boys are Endacott, a state tournament basketball standout and budget manager, and O Leary a track athlete brother of KU star Dummy O’Leary. Girls include Elizabeth Dunkel, ex change editor, and Veona Baumgartner, a noted reader and debater. Commencement is set for June 6 with the baccalaureate on June 1.
Four American missionaries in Seoul, capital of Korea, have been arrested by the Japanese in connection with the Korean revolution, information received today by Rev. David Lee, general manager of the Korean National association branch here.
In police court this morning William Roberts was fined 2 dollars plus costs, totaling 7.50 dollars after a costly talk with prisoners. Chief James Monroe warns that talking hours in the jail will be strictly observed or other fines will follow.

A strike order from United Mine Workers District No 14 based at Pittsburg Kansas calls 1200 miners at Central Coal and Coke Company mines to quit work at the end of tomorrow's shift. President Alexander Howat served the order on all affected locals. The strike begins Wednesday.
