Lawrence April 1 1885 daily items note the bullion style of statesmanship referenced by the Philadelphia Press. The Leavenworth press and other papers discuss St John’s eastward travel, Baltimore speeches, and Southern politics. Reports cover trials in Dublin and St Petersburg, Irish leaders, and a Florida canal charter plan with North and Southern financiers.
John Kahn of Lafayette Indiana declares perfect health after a year of illness once given hours to live. He attributes recovery to Dr Williams Hall's Balsam for the Lungs, stating nine bottles cured his consumption. He warns of other remedies like DeWitt Kellinger liniment and Edey carbolic Troches.
Governor Hamilton issued a warrant for the delivery of John C. Jones to Massachusetts authorities on a requisition. He stands charged with embezzling 39000 dollars from John Haily by selling bonds instead of delivering them and using the money personally. Jones was active in Boston business, then disappeared west and is now held in Chicago awaiting transfer.
