Sea City commissioners will consider starting the process on multiple land use issues tied to a proposed youth fieldhouse and recreation center in northwest Lawrence.
Commissioners discuss rezoning the northwest corner of Sixth Street and the South Lawrence Trafficway to a CC 600 commercial designation allowing up to 600000 square feet of space at the intersection. The plan calls for a field house recreation center on about 50 acres, with about 100 additional acres eyed for annexation and hotels and eateries on the remaining 146 acre parcel. Final action deferred to the Lawrence Douglas County Planning Commission for review.
