Robot Weather Satellite Blasts Into Orbit

A robot weather satellite was launched from Cape Canaveral at 5 40 am CST and placed into orbit. Three hours later NASA reported signals from the craft began. The satellite will photograph Earth cloud cover and transmit data for forecasting.

Model U N Opens With Convocation Hoch Packed for HST

Former President Harry S. Truman opened Kansas University's Model United Nations convocation at Hoch Auditorium with a large turnout. He urged a strong international police force and highlighted the U N as a path to peace, noting its shift toward a democratic General Assembly and humanitarian programs. He warned against nuclear war and praised liberal interpretations of U N duties. The convocation was convened by Bob Nebrig of Leavenworth.
