Lawrence notice offers sale of a large and varied assortment of farms in Douglas Jefferson and Leavenworth Counties at prices from 10 to 100 dollars per acre with a few bargains.
The Kansas State Music Teachers Association organized in this city with Prof. Wm. MacDonald elected president and C. A. Boyle secretary treasurer. By laws established designate officers, district representation, auditing, program and executive committees, with annual meetings and Topeka chosen for the next gathering. An opening address by Prof. Canfield and a concert concluded the day.
City council convened with Mayor Poehler presiding. An ordinance granted South Lawrence Coal Co mining under streets. A 125-signature Third Ward petition for councilman election referred to the city attorney. Water works plans discussed. estimates ranged from nine to twelve miles of main, 8–12 inch mains on major streets, and about 80–120 hydrants. The council authorized a committee to invite bids and adjourned to Monday. University catalog shows 419 enrollment, 875 Kansas students, and history of departments noted. A fire destroyed Mr. E Q Cox's Leavenworth county farm house with full insurance coverage.
