In Nan, March 6, the Tlouse ways and means committee chair introduced a concurrent resolution to halt all house originated bills by March 9 and senate bills by March 9 with exceptions for appropriation bills and conference reports until March 11. If passed, adjournment could occur next Friday at midnight after governors messages are addressed.
In Manhattan Kansas on March 4 the Kansas Methodist conference opened its third day with a vote on constitutional changes. Portland banker Henry Winslow Corbett, longtime Republican leader and former U.S. senator, was named by Governor Lord on March 8 to fill the Oregon seat after the Legislature failed to elect a successor to Senator Mitchell. Corbett, vice president of the First National Bank of Portland, is described as a prominent conservative financial figure in the state.
