Traveling men organize a branch of United Commercial Travelers of America
A call gathering in the A. O. U. W. Hall led to forming a Wichita area branch of the United Commercial Travelers of America with strong attendance and hearty remarks. Grand Secretary F L Richter and several councils initiated the group as they noted a lively, jovial spirit among traveling men. The meeting followed by updates on contracts for university library projects and the chancellor's residence with bids from Woratrock Co and Lawrence Plumbing and Heating Co.

Military encampments outlined by State Military Board
Brigadier General Sears explains plans for a three day brigade encampment in August for each brigade district. The 1st Brigade including the First Regiment will camp in late August, location to be decided with regimental officers. The board discussed an officer school at Ft Leavenworth and cost estimated at not more than 600 per year for about 100 officers. Eight infantry companies and support units will go into camp in Sears brigade, with two cavalry troops added in Osage and Jefferson counties. Captain Metcalf duties explained for Oakland company muster out due to proximity and familiarity.
