In North Hickory Grove friends of George and Istra Bush gathered at J H Bush's home for a joint birthday party marking George's nineteenth and Istra's eleventh. Wesley Smith injured his thumb while Jack Smith burned his arm with a Roman candle. Mr and Mrs J J Bush dined with their son Hartley. Pack school opened Monday with strong attendance.
Moss notes a quiet postholiday routine at the schoolhouse with a fine Christmas program. Mentions visits by Horace and Forest Moss of SMC, W A Flanagan of Tennessee visiting Mass friends, J N Batteaste travels to Hathesburg, Mrs J J Cross visiting relatives in Laurel, Mrs Yarborough of Laurel visiting Mass, and Sylvester Hardy heading to A M to resume studies. Christmas in West Laurel passed quietly with Mills workers receiving treats. A baby boy was born at the Pleasants home Sunday morning. Baptist church Christmas Eve exercises were well done under Mrs Peeden and Miss Cubley. J S Pleasants and Incv E M Laird’s household welcomed a marriage between Huston of IH and Mary Gunn. Mrs Gillis and children visited relatives in Alabama. J B Jarvis traveled to Meridian. The Baptist congregation awaits Rev. R. R. Jones’s arrival Thursday night and invites all to Sunday services.
The calm Christmas season passed without incident. Jeff Colling visited homefolks. The Liberty cornet band played at the Christmas tree in Liberty Thursday. William Jones of Magee visited relatives, after seeing his brother in Meridian. C. G. Bush rented his saw mill to N. W. Gambrell of Soso, who will take control Monday. Local farmers prepare fertilizer for next crop.

Shady Grove notes Christmas passed quietly with Mr J S Mayfield and family of Jasper County living in the area. Rev. Lopez preached at the regular service. Dock Lowe installed a house covering and will move into his new home soon. Plowing has continued since Xmas and W L Pryor is at home for several weeks.
Sam Stainton of Millsaps and Mies Alda Stainton of the I. I. & C. are at home spending the holidays.
