North Eastern plans for new Laurel depot
President Curran of the New Orleans and Northeastern Railroad will begin active construction on a new Laurel passenger station by July 4 1912 with plans and blueprints already prepared. Sharon School House Burned and Loss Heavy
A Sharon school house eight miles from Laurel on Rural Route No 2 burned at 8 30 p m Wednesday. All pupils were safely out with no loss of books. The two story frame building housed a lodge room for Woodmen and local Farmers Union on the second floor. Furniture and paraphernalia saved for the Woodmen and the charter plus minor items for the Farmers Union. School furniture was saved. The blaze started from a defective flue and rapid flames prevented saving the structure. Sharon church will serve temporarily as a school. A new building may be planned.
