Ellsvile Feb 19 a transient negro prisoner in the care of Marshal Hendricks escaped from the jail serving a short sentence. After an earlier escape the cell door was secured but not locked and the inmate used a wire to open it and flee through a brick wall. A boy confined also escaped but surrendered to the town marshal this morning.

Incorporators are GL Hawkins W B Glover and J J Davidson of Hattiesburg. Building to occupy the vacant block owned by central and fifth avenues is planned. The business may begin after 30000 is paid in and active operations start next month.
Maj. W. Millsaps urges Mississippi Red Cross funds for China famine relief. The letter from Isrnest J. Hicknell warns of appalling suffering as relief workers face barriers. A vivid remote inspection describes famine conditions along Anhui routes, beggars, dying villagers, and desperate need for charitable support.
