Safeway reports 1969 sales reach new highs despite strikes
Safeway Stores, Inc. announces unaudited consolidated sales for 1969 at record levels for the period, with earnings hurt by three major strikes in the 12 weeks to September 6. The 12 week sales totaled 944,540,000, up 7.6 percent from 1968. For the 36 weeks ended September 6, sales were 2,762,722,000, up ten percent from the prior year.
