Eugene A. Gulledge was sworn in October 2 as Assistant Secretary for Mortgage Credit and Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration. President Nixon nominated him and the Senate confirmed him. The San Diego board welcomed him as he left the NAHB presidency after a long building career.

NAHB Urges Fed to Relax Truth in Lending Rule
NAHB asks the Federal Reserve Board to amend a Truth in Lending regulation seen as unnecessary and hindering FHA and VA sales. The rule requires disclosure of seller paid points in FHA or VA transactions in addition to the buyer's loan origination fee. NAHB cites hearings on the Housing Act of 1969 and argues the seller points should not affect the buyer’s finance charge and APR.
