Walnut to Star at World's Fair Exhibits in New York
Walnut dominates home furnishings at the New York World's Fair with dining and bedroom suites, desks, and entertainment centers by major manufacturers. A prior Chicago and Grand Rapids market survey showed walnut as the leading wood, used in 28 percent of 2,724 dining and bedroom groupings, with cherry and maple following. The exhibition includes modern and traditional walnut pieces, kitchen cabinets, and a walnut crib and chest, reflecting trends toward dark brown finishes and sculpted forms.
