North Las Vegas to gain 2.3 million for five Public Works projects
City Manager Ray Schweitzer says five federal Public Works Jobs Act projects totaling over 2.3 million will fund water meters for about 8 000 homes and a 14 inch Craig Road transmission line. Other items include an engineering testing lab, street resurfacing in Northland Park, and a street and water system in the Ivanhoe Tract with 242 temporary jobs expected by October. The lab will sit on Stocker and Tonopah property and the line aims to spur industrial and residential development while phasing out wells. Schweitzer hopes to secure additional funding for six projects by pursuing a different round for the water meter work.
