Commission Holds Back Health Fee Decision
At a public hearing county commissioners delayed action on a proposed health inspection fee ordinance for food and drink venues. The plan would charge 25 to 225 dollars by seating or floor space, with 80 percent cost coverage by fees and 20 percent by ad valorem tax. Health officer Dr. Otto Ravenholt defended the budget and rejected accusations of overspending as the pressed growth in population and tourism prompts expanded health protections. The commission will reconvene January 6 after a Deputy committee review with the Las Vegas City Commission.
