Funeral services are set for John Alva Watkins 54 of North Las Vegas at Palm Mortuary Chapel at 2 PM Monday with interment at Palm Valley View. He was a U S Army veteran and stock room clerk at the Nevada Test Site. Survived by Olivia Watkins and several children, siblings and relatives. Prayer service for Jim Psenicnik 52 of Asterland Ohio will be held at Palm Mortuary Chapel with Mass at St Anne's Church Saturday and entombment at Palm Mausoleum. Teresa Marie Armentrout 17 Las Vegas died in a local hospital with Mass Saturday at St Christopher's and burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Thomas Joseph Jester 80 Nelson died, services at Palm Mortuary Chapel with burial at Memorial Park. a US Navy World War I veteran and former law enforcement officer. He is survived by Eugene Jester, Marjorie Juhl, and siblings.

Travel Claim Fraud Charge Shakes County Fire Chief
County Fire Chief Leroy Hawks resigned and was arraigned on a gross misdemeanor for fraudulently claiming travel expenses. District Court proceedings set for Jan. 3 with potential penalties up to one year in jail or a $1000 fine. Hawks faced the charge after a Nov. 9 trip to New York to pick up a new fire engine and return trip reimbursements.
