Army to release 20,000 National Guard Reserve troops by 1969 end
Washington reports the Army will release about half of the 20,000 mobilized National Guard and Reserve soldiers by Oct 31 1969 and the rest by Dec 15 1969. About 10,000 will return before Oct 31, most five months early of term. Some will come home sooner if the Vietnam war ends. The action follows the Pueblo seizure mobilizations earlier this year with 38,000 total called up across services and reserves.
