Second Brother Gets Life In Slaying

Lee Ernest Pharm, 28, of 2204 Tam Drive, Milwaukee native living locally, is sentenced to life with parole possibility by District Court Judge Carl Christensen for the murder of Louis Newton, 42, in North Las Vegas. His brother John Henry Pharm, 2, had earlier received the same life with parole sentence. Newton's body was found June 14, 1976, after police stopped a car with the two brothers and a television protruding from the trunk, at Newton's trailer home where a four year old daughter cried for her father. The case involved alleged sexual abuse, but both Pharms denied the charges, pleading guilty to first degree murder. The brothers claimed Newton attacked them. Lee said he stabbed during the struggle and planned to leave with the television. Lee, a former Marine, expressed remorse and aims to continue his education in prison.
