Southwest Gas seeks second price rise to cover storage costs
Southwest Gas Corp. asked for an immediate rate increase at a Public Service Commission hearing to cover a new underground storage cost from El Paso Natural Gas Co. The proposed hike would raise Southern Nevada bills by about 9 cents monthly for the average resident, funding storage at Clay Basin Utah to protect priority customers this winter. No objections were voiced amid pending commission advisement.

Utilities seek tax pass through to customers before PSC
Nevada Power Co and Cal Pacific Utilities asked the Nevada Public Service Commission to allow charging construction taxes directly to customers to avoid burdening ratepayers. In a hearing, officials cited about 1.5 million dollars in line construction fees since 1976 and a possible 92.3 percent tax impact if taxed by the IRS. The plan would set up a trust for tax proceeds and refunds if tax collection fails. The commission took the application under advisement.
