Deputy Shot During Traffic Stop In Washoe County
Washoe Deputy Brent Royale 21 was wounded by a sawed off shotgun blast while stopping a car on Highway 395 South. Royale, in satisfactory condition, was in intensive care at Washoe Medical Center. The assailant fled, leading to a pursuit that ended when the suspect crashed at a Sparks service station. Alvin Fredericks, 27, of Memphis, Tenn., was arrested with a broken leg and cuts.
