Mrs Gloria Mitchell of Van Nuys California followed a hunch and hit a 41 964 dollar slot jackpot on a double progressive machine at Harold's Club in Reno after 15 minutes with a ten dollar stake. She was told the win was the largest ever paid for a fifty cent machine.
Skaggs Companies Inc owners of nine Nevada drug and variety stores sue the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy the Nevada Pharmaceutical Association and the Southern Nevada Pharmaceutical Society in US District Court. The complaint alleges a four year conspiracy to restrain interstate commerce by restricting access to pharmacy services during differential hours. The suit seeks 500000 in damages and names Arthur Clayton society association president Floyd Butler society president and several board members as defendants. Clayton says the association holds that pharmacy must be open with the store hours and that leaving the pharmacy unmanned risks narcotics robberies. Skaggs is represented by attorney Edwin Adamson.
