Defense Dept relaxes reserve duty term for youths
The Defense Department announced a new standard program for non prior service personnel aged 17 to 26 enlisting directly in Army and Air Force reserves and National Guard. The six year enlistment replaces eight years for younger recruits with variable active duty time for training. The change follows a House Armed Services Committee push and affects about 763,000 past entrants.
