James Farndale of Las Vegas Post 1753 was named commander of the Nevada Encampment Veterans of Foreign Wars and Mrs Thelma Samalles of Fallon was installed as Nevada Auxiliary president. The three day convention drew about 200 veterans and guests and Boulder City was chosen as the 1940 meeting site.

Getchell Mine Dividends Boost Nevada's Largest Producer
Getchell Mine Inc paid its seventh dividend of 45000 dollars at Reno. Since starting in February 1938, total dividends reach 375000 dollars. The company milled an average 865 tons daily with a peak 930 tons in one day. A new roaster will triple oxide ore capacity, with installation due in three to four months. The mine employs about 250 people at its 43 mile northeast Getchell site in Humboldt County.
