City commissioners postponed paving action after adjournment citing need for more time. Replies from 12 of 18 addressees favored oil bound gravel pavement while opposition pleas for delay were voiced by Al James J E Calkins. Meeting adjourned to July 2 at 3:00 p m.
The great artesian well supplying Las Vegas water periodically belches red sand, forcing mains shutdowns and basin cleaning. About 120 tons of sand collected in basins and 50 tons entered mains. Analysts deem both water and sand pure, with the sand staying in suspension until pressure releases it in a sudden rush.
A farewell party was held Tuesday evening in the Logandale ward chapel for Edwin Wells who has been called to fulfill a mission to the eastern states. The Arcadian orchestra provided music for a short dance and folk dancing followed with brief talks. Cake and punch were served.
Mrs C T Gladden wife of Lieut Commander Gladden U S N was taken to Las Vegas hospital Tuesday from a local hotel with serious but slightly improving condition after sudden illness Sunday morning.

Mrs C Peoples narrowly escaped drowning at Lorenzi lake after a raft accident while a party swam at the resort. Miss Margaret Bush Leslie Bush and Leonard Copeland aided, with Bash shouting for help as Copeland towed the raft to shore and Mrs Peoples was rescued.

The Boys and Girls Clubs run a camp near Reno four miles from the University farm hosting about 300 youths each summer. Mrs Boul expects two Clark County cars and one from Lincoln County to travel to the outing.
Las Vegas post office reported over $22,000 in stamps sold last year and $200,000 in money orders. Postmaster R. B. Griffith announced airpost sales now rise to $3.00 to $4.00 daily, with a rate cut to five cents for the first ounce and ten cents for each additional ounce taking effect August 1, prompting higher airpost business.
Las Vegas Land & Water Company nears completion of plans to serve Buck's Addition, Hawkins Addition and eastern city areas directly from main lines.
