Foolish Investors and Mexican Political Turmoil
A Tuesday Daily column lambasts Ponzi investors as gamblers while criticizing societal preference for easy money. It links Ponzi to a broader pattern of swindles, condemns gullible patrons, and urges accountability for the Altendorf disappearance within the Huerta regime, stressing swift justice and safe return of him to American soil.
Old regime returns cast shadow on Mexico
Reports from Mexico say officials drift toward former customs and dissidents are quietly disposed of. A San Antonio man who aided the U S and opposed Germany during the war went to Mexico on business now shrouded in mystery. Many claim he was arrested or executed by Mexican authorities as stories spread amid the de la Huerta government's hopeful reception by Americans disillusioned with prior regimes.

Damage to Rio Grande Pontoon Bridge after driftwood collision
Yesterday around 3 o clock a driftwood floe struck a pontoon on the international footbridge across the Rio Grande between Laredos. The impact capsized and sank the pontoon, pulling 40 feet of flooring with it and leaving a large gap. Traffic was halted as workers began repairs, with the river current hindering efforts. A 15 foot rise, if it reached the area, could cause more damage, but officials expect the bridge to be open to vehicles by tomorrow morning.
