A Denver dispatch reports Wyoming ranches shifting from grazing to farming aided by government experiments. Crops like field peas oats and alfalfa expand under improved irrigation and scientific methods. Centennial Notes Highlight Pioneer Day At Fair

June 15 marked Pioneer Day with a large crowd of old settlers at the Fair. The Hash couple from Newberg Oregon, Uncle John age 79 and Aunt Mary 80, are the oldest visitors noted. A special train brought over 200 Nebraska lumbermen last Saturday to be hosted by Oregon lumber manufacturers. The Masons have built a new building for entertainment and provided lounging and sick rooms beside reception areas. Read the times.

A Nebraska farmer visiting Denver was duped by two guides from the Boosters committee who led him to spend money and meet others before disappearing with the cash. The incident ends with the victim realizing he had been buncoed in a crude city scam.

Young burglars released on habeas corpus writs

Five youths sentenced to the penitentiary for breaking into a box car on the Union Vieille have been discharged by writs of habeas corpus. The lads, from good families, included the son of United States Attorney McMillan of Jaws and another son of a prominent Iowa attorney. They admitted burglary after entering the car believed to hold stolen goods, which had already been looted, as they planned to flee to the Portland fair.
