A carload of the celebrated Flour arrives before the price rise and will be sold this month in 500 lb lots or more. The offer targets bulk buyers seeking value with the new stock arriving for immediate sale.
A new first class machine shop opens in Biggar offering rapid repair work for cracked cylinders crank cases and similar components with welding on shortest notice for all kinds of jobs.
Local notes record new car purchases and piano buys, visits, and social events. A fire destroyed a barn near Winchester Green with horses. several residents report illnesses and injuries, livestock incidents, and millinery day. Community meetings cover tennis, Red Cross, and parish teas as seeding and farming advance.
Naseby sees new houses on the south east of 8.36 to 8.37 acres as Mr and Mrs Hanlan Walsh of Salter prepare to move in. With no Red Cross branch in Rosemount, Councillor Affleck plans a meeting to establish one, inviting all interested. Mrs Matcham of the Biggar branch will be asked to assist.

The residents of this Village are notified by the Council that all closets ash heaps and inflammable materials must be cleaned up and removed not later than Monday evening next the 14th May 1917. Failure to comply with this order will be punishable with the penalty provided by the Public Health Act. By order S Mc Martin Secretary-Treasurer.

The Rural Municipality of Rosemount No 378 enacts fire reporting rules. Owners or occupants must within seven days report to the secretary with fire location date structure occupancy cause insurance values and damages. Violation carries a fine up to two dollars per day. Passed May 5 1917.
