Memorial Day Observances Led by American Legion Worldwide

Memorial Day will be observed May 30 in many countries, led by the American Legion. The Legion and Allied veterans will honor U S and foreign graves, with posts worldwide decorating graves and conducting ceremonies. Storm Cuts Telegraph News For Several Days

The Evening Post faced heavy telegram disruptions caused by a major storm between Casper and Denver. Wires and poles were down from Casper to Cheyenne making outbound news impossible for days. This is the first time in nearly four years the paper did not publish full telegraph updates. Conditions are improving and staff hope for normal service soon.

Mountaineers Near Death In Avalanche At McClellans Butte

Eight Mountaineers escaped serious injuries after an avalanche swept them down 1400 feet on McClellans Butte in the Cascade mountains. One woman was treated at Seattle hospital and deemed not seriously hurt. A Associated Press report notes related U S government and war remembrance efforts and graves restoration through the Legion Auxiliary across European and British sites.

Messenger foils Arizona train hold up in Tucson

In James eight miles west of Tucson, Associated Press reports Messenger H. Stewart stopped a planned robbery of Rock Island trains No. 3 the Golden State Limited. He killed one bandit and is believed to have wounded another as the attackers fled in a heavy car toward the border. passengers were not harmed. A dynamite sack and fuse were found at the scene.

One Killed In Railroad Wreck In Waco Texas

One woman passenger was seriously hurt early this morning when the Katy flyer northbound on the Missouri Kingus and Texas Railway derailed. Two coaches and the baggage car left the track after a washout caused by heavy rain. A federal investigation was expected.

Luncheons at Noble Hotel Discuss Local Troop Plans

A Kiwanis meeting noted weekly luncheons will move to the Noble Hotel Grill room. Delegates to the June Toronto convention were discussed and postponed to Monday.
